Summer Jobs in Temple Gate

Warning: Macabre content. Potential minor spoilers for Outlast 2.

The remote Arizona town of Temple Gate, prominently featured as the setting of the recent video game Outlast 2, is now, for the first time in its history, firmly on the map.

Now that the existence of this quaint, traditional community has been brought to the attention of the world at large, some students may be considering spending their summers there. If you too want to investigate firsthand the curious local customs and rich religious heritage of this long-isolated town, this guide should give you a few ideas on how to stay busy in Temple Gate.

1. Freelance Journalist

Having existed beneath the world’s notice for so long, much about Temple Gate remains a mystery, and many reputable content providers are still searching for intrepid journalists willing to travel there and provide detailed reports on its people and their ways.

If you are a talented writer with a keen investigative instinct and an outgoing, diplomatic attitude, this might be the job for you. Bear in mind that not all of the locals may be eager to have outsiders nosing into their business, so be sure to use caution when making your investigations. But do also consider that there may be any number of helpful townsfolk eager to give their account of life in Temple Gate and dispel the ugly perception of their community as a depraved backwoods cult.

2. Corpse-Pit Emptier

If you have a good back and a strong stomach, you might make a first-rate corpse-pit emptier! As a community with a long tradition of ritual human sacrifice, Temple Gate has had some logistical difficulties with corpse disposal in the past. For decades, the practice has been to simply dump unwanted corpses into spacious communal pits.

Unfortunately, the location of these pits in the root cellars and basements of Temple Gate residents has become a major sanitation concern, and now the bodies need to be dredged out of their pits and moved to mass graves on the outskirts of town, where the smell will hopefully prove less of a bother to residents.

Conveniently, since most of the pits are located underground, this job should help keep you out of the hot Arizona sun!

3. Medic in Syphilis Colony

Thanks to the unusual sexual behavior mandated by Temple Gate’s eccentric religious doctrine, along with their limited exposure to modern medicine, the people of Temple Gate have been forced to take drastic measures to contain the spread of syphilis in their community.

To that end, they quarantine sufferers to the shanty-like syphilis colony outside of town. These sufferers are in dire need of proper medical attention, and many humanitarian organizations have taken it upon themselves to bring aid to these long-neglected victims of one of human kind’s most dreaded diseases. Though serving as a medic to the contagious and mentally unbalanced residents of the syphilis colony is an inherently dangerous venture, popular wisdom holds that there is nothing more enriching than the experience of helping those in need.

These are just a few of the possible ways that a young person like yourself might be able to make a living for the summer in the town of Temple Gate. There are infinite opportunities available to those with an enterprising spirit, a can-do attitude, and an open-minded willingness to overlook generations of inbreeding and torture.

But keep in mind: Temple Gate won’t remain untouched by the modern world for long. If you want to experience the bygone simplicity of this obscure hamlet for yourself, you’ll need to act fast.
